Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS)

The CTS is located in the engine coolant stream. It supplies coolant temperature information to ECM. This information affects air/fuel ratio control (as coolant temperature varies during cold start), switching functions for emission controls and torque converter clutch, spark timing, and engine temperature warning light operation.
