Pinpoint Test G: Reduced System Function
- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module incorporates a function for testing the vehicle on a dynamometer to prevent wheel speed sensor DTC's from setting during testing. The PCM sends a message to the ABS module when the vehicle is setup for testing. When the ABS module receives this message it knows to ignore discrepancies between the front and rear wheel speed sensors.
The ABS module exits the test mode automatically when the PCM sends the exit message, the ignition is set to OFF, either of the non-driven wheels exceeds 20 km/h (12 mph) or a wheel speed sensor DTC is detected on any wheel speed sensor.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ABS U2001:00 Reduced System Function: No Sub Type Information Sets when the ABS module has been set to dynamometer test mode. Possible Causes
- ABS module in test mode
Visual Inspection and Pre-checks
- Drive the vehicle above 20 km/h (12 mph). Stop and cycle the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON. Carry out the ABS module self-test. If the DTC returns, retrieve and diagnose all PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- G1 CHECK THE WHEELS AND TIRES
- Inspect the wheels and tires for any damage or excessive wear.
- Verify all wheels and tires are the same size and match the size indicated on the VC label.
- Verify the inflation pressure of all 4 tires is correct as indicated on the VC label.
Are the wheels and tires OK?
Yes GO to G2 No INSTALL the correct size wheel or tire or ADJUST tire pressure as necessary. - G2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Press the Read Vehicle Information button to view the results of the modules communicating on the network.
- Press Read Vehicle Information button to retrieve DTC's from the vehicle.NOTE: DTC's may be displayed from previous diagnostic actions.
- Read vehicle information.
Does the RCM pass the Network Test?
Yes GO to G3 No REFER to: Communications Network in the appropriate Module Communications Network article. to diagnose the RCM does not communicate with the scan tool. - G3 RETRIEVE ALL DTCS FROM THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE)
- Carry out the RCM self-test.
Are any DTC's present?
Yes DIAGNOSE the RCM DTC's first. REFER to: Airbag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) . No GO to G4 - G4 CHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTCS
- Ignition ON.
- Carry out the ABS module self-test.
Is DTC U0151:xx or U0452:xx present and active in the ABS module?
Yes GO to Pinpoint Test CE No GO to G5 - G5 CHECK THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING SURFACEWARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait one minute.
- Disconnect RCM module connector C310A.
- Disconnect RCM module connector C310B.
- Inspect the RCM installation, make sure the fasteners are fully seated and tightened to specifications. REFER to: RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .
- Inspect the RCM mounting surface for damage, corrosion or dirt.
Is the RCM installed correctly and is the mounting surface clean and free from damage?
Yes GO to G6 No CLEAN or REPAIR the mounting surface or INSTALL a new RCM as necessary. REFER to: RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) . - G6 VERIFY STABILITY CONTROL SENSOR CALIBRATIONNOTE: The vehicle must be on level ground and at a complete standstill during sensor calibration. Any vehicle movement results in a failed calibration.
- Ignition ON.
Does the scan tool routine pass?
Yes GO to G7 No GO to G8 - G7 RECHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTCS
- Clear the ABS module DTC's.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Test drive the vehicle above 20 km/h (12 mph) and make at lest 1 left turn and 1 right turn.
- Carry out the ABS module self-test.
Are any of the DTC's listed in the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions table present in the ABS module?
Yes GO to G8 No The condition causing the concern is no longer present. The concern was most likely caused by an incomplete calibration or a previously failed calibration of the stability control sensors. - G8 CHECK THE FD1-CAN CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect ABS module connector C135.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C135 Pin 33 Ground C135 Pin 32 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to G9 - G9 CHECK THE FD1-CAN CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C135 Pin 32 Ground C135 Pin 33 Ground
Are the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to G10 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - G10 CHECK THE FD1-CAN CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
- Measure the resistance between:
