Pinpoint Test M: Abs (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Mismatch

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
When the ignition is set to ON, the ABS module and the BCM share VIN information through the GWM over the HS-CAN1 and FD-CAN.
When a new unit is installed, the ABS module must be programmed with the vehicle information. REFER to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description .
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ABS U3002:62 Vehicle Identification Number: Signal Compare Failure Sets when the VIN message sent by the BCM does not match the VIN stored in the ABS module. Possible Sources
- BCM configuration
- ABS module configuration
- M1 CHECK FOR FAILURE CONDITION
- This procedure will eliminate the following ABS failure conditions:
- Initial configuration not complete
- Invalid/Incompatible configuration
- Control module configuration memory corrupt

Yes GO to M2 No Complete a full run of available diagnostics before returning the vehicle to the customer. - This procedure will eliminate the following ABS failure conditions:
- M2 CHECK FOR ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) 'S
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTC's from the ABS module.NOTE: DTC's may be displayed from previous diagnostic actions.
Is DTC U3002:67 present?
Yes GO to M3 No The system is operating correctly at this time. If the fault reoccurs, inform the customer to note any relevant conditions at the time of the fault. Return the vehicle to the customer. - M3 VERIFY THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE
- Verify the ABS module.
Has the module recently been replaced and the correct module replacement repair process followed?
Yes GO to M4 No Follow the ABS module repair instructions. - M4 CHECK FOR ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) 'S
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Access the ABS Module and carry out the ABS Module VIN Write Service function.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ABS Module DTC 's.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTC 's from the ABS module.NOTE: DTC 's may be displayed from previous diagnostic actions.
Did the DTC 's return?
Yes The module is not configured correctly. The fault will not be eliminated until the ABS module is correctly configured. Carry out the programmable module installation procedure. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The fault was caused by an incorrectly written VIN in the ABS module.
