Pinpoint Test BA: Brake System Pressure Check
- Refer to Horn/Cigar Lighter
for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module monitors various inputs and compares the values to what should be expected. If the values received are out of range or not what should be expected, the ABS module sets a DTC.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ABS C0044:49 Brake Pressure Sensor "A": Internal Electronic Failure A DTC is set that indicates a fault with the brake pressure sensor "A" Possible Sources
- Brake switch
- Brake pedal
- ABS module
- Brake lines
- Hydraulic pump
- BA1 CHECK FOR ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) S
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTCs from the ABS module. NOTE: DTCs may be displayed from previous diagnostic actions.
Are there any DTCs present?
Yes GO to BA2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. - BA2 CHECK FOR CORRECT BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH INSTALLATION
- Check that the brake pedal and the brake pedal switches are correctly installed.
- Refer to the relevant removal and installation procedure in Etis for details of tightening torques for fixings.
Were there any concerns found during the inspection?
Yes REPAIR the affected component/s No GO to BA3 - Check that the brake pedal and the brake pedal switches are correctly installed.
- BA3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE/HYDRAULIC PUMP INSTALLATION
- Check that the ABS module, ECU and the hydraulic pump is correctly installed.
- Refer to the relevant removal and installation procedure in Etis for details of tightening torques for fixings.
Were there any concerns found during the inspection?
Yes REPAIR the affected component/s No GO to BA4 - Check that the ABS module, ECU and the hydraulic pump is correctly installed.
- BA4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BRAKE LINE INSTALLATION
- Check the hydraulic system for kinked brake lines.
- Refer to the relevant removal and installation procedure in Etis for details of tightening torques for fixings.
Were there any concerns found during the inspection?
Yes REPAIR the affected component/s No Interference caused by non-standard accessories installed or used in proximity to the vehicle can cause failures of this type (mobile phone, etc). For any non standard electrical/electronic accessories installed in the vehicle, or used in proximity of the vehicle, GO to BA5 For others, GO to BA6 - Check the hydraulic system for kinked brake lines.
- BA5 VERIFY ALL WIRING CONNECTIONS
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect any non-standard or non-approved electrical accessories that could cause electrical interference to the vehicle's electrical systems.
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.

- Disconnect ABS module connector, C135 .
- Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:
- Check the anti-lock brake system module electrical connector, harness side, for signs of damage, corrosion or damaged seals
- Check the anti-lock brake system module electrical connector, component side, for signs of damage, corrosion or bent pins
Were there any concerns found during the visual inspection?
Yes For component side concerns, the ABS module is defective and the complete unit, including the hydraulic unit, requires replacement. INSTALL a new ABS Module. REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module
If the electrical connectors or wiring shows signs of corrosion clean the electrical connectors / wiring. If necessary INSTALL a new electrical connector or wiring.
