High-Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Unit: Removal

  1. Release the cooling system pressure. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling And Bleeding .
  2. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump. Refer to: High-Pressure Fuel Pump 2.7L EcoBoost  .
  3. Clamp off the cooling system hoses with the hose clamp pliers, disconnect the cooling hose quick connect couplings, then move the hoses out of the way. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling . Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  4. Detach the wiring harness retainers from the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  5. Remove the upper high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  6. Loosen the lower high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolt, then remove the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit with the lower studbolt.
