Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
On 4x2 vehicles and certain 4x4 vehicles, the overdrive cancel switch is used to activate and deactivate the selectable drive mode feature. When the driver presses the overdrive cancel switch, the TCM receives a voltage signal from the switch. The TCM sends a drive mode message to the GWM over the HS-CAN 1 and the GWM relays this message to the ABS module over the HS-CAN 2. The ABS module takes the necessary action depending on the selectable drive mode message.
The overdrive cancel switch is located on the center console near the transmission mode select switch. On special service vehicles, the overdrive cancel switch is located on the end of the transmission shift lever.
On certain 4x4 vehicles, the ATCM is used to activate and deactivate the selectable drive mode feature. When the driver presses the ATCM drive mode switch, the ATCM sends a drive mode message to the ABS module over the HS-CAN 2. The ABS module takes the necessary action depending on the selectable drive mode message.
