Front Seat Backrest Cover: Removal
WARNING:
Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side airbags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side airbag deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the head restraint guide sleeves. Refer to: Front Head Restraint Guide Sleeve .
- Detach the electrical connector retainers and position the wire harnesses aside.
- Release the backrest cover straps.
- Release the backrest cover J-clips.
- Position the backrest foam pad out of the backrest trim cover.

NOTE: Use care when separating the backrest cover from the hook-and-loop strips or the hook-and-loop strips may be torn from the backrest foam pad.
Release the backrest cover hook-and-loop strips from the backrest foam and invert the backrest cover.
- Release the J-clips from the lumbar wire and position the backrest cover up.

- Release the deployment chute retainer tab.
- Separate the deployment chute retainers.

Release the J-clip from the backrest frame.

Remove the hog rings and the backrest cover.
- If equipped with heat, during installation, make sure to retain the heater mat between the backrest cover and foam pad using hog rings on both sides.
