Pinpoint Test S : Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Faults: Notes

Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 42 for schematic and connector information.

NOTE: The brake pedal angle sensor is also known as the brake pedal travel sensor.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

The ABS module uses input from the brake pedal angle sensor to determine the amount of deceleration the driver is requesting. The brake pedal angle sensor uses 2 Hall-effect sensors that provide redundant signals indicating the position of the brake pedal. The ABS module provides a 5-volt reference voltage used by both of the sensors. The ABS module provides a signal return common to both sensors.

The SOBDMC monitors fault messages from the ABS module. When the ABS module sets 1 or more brake pedal angle sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), the SOBDMC sets a DTC and illuminates the MIL.

C056E:00 Brake Pedal Position Sensor Supply Voltage Low: No Sub Type Information The SOBDMC sets this DTC when the ABS module sets 1 or more brake pedal angle sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
C056E:00 Brake Pedal Position Sensor Supply Voltage Low: No Sub Type Information
C100A:62 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor: Signal Compare Failure This DTC sets if 1 of the 2 sensors inside the brake pedal angle sensor is inconsistent with the other or if the ABS module is faulted internally. This DTC can set as a result of brake pedal angle circuit Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) being set.
C100A:64 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure The ABS module only monitors for this DTC after 1 of the 2 brake pedal angle sensors has failed. This DTC sets if the brake pedal angle sensor signal and the stoplamp switch CAN message do not match. This is usually caused by a failed stoplamp switch, a failed brake pedal angle sensor, a circuit failure or a HS-CAN failure.
C100D:21 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Circuit 1: Signal Amplitude < Minimum This DTC sets when the signal from the brake pedal angle sensor is below a predetermined threshold. This is usually caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, an internal failure of the sensor or an internal failure of the ABS module.

C100D:22 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Circuit 1: Signal Amplitude > Maximum This DTC sets when the signal from the brake pedal angle sensor is above a predetermined threshold. This is usually caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, an internal failure of the sensor or an internal failure of the ABS module.

C100D:38 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Circuit 1: Signal Frequency Incorrect This DTC sets when the signal or duty cycle from the brake pedal angle sensor is outside a predetermined threshold. This is usually caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to voltage, an internal failure of the sensor or an internal failure of the ABS module.
C100E:38 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Circuit 2: Signal Frequency Incorrect
C100F:11 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Supply: Short to Ground This DTC sets when the ABS module detects a short to ground on the brake pedal angle voltage supply circuit.
C100F:12 Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Supply: Short to Battery This DTC sets when the ABS module detects a short to voltage on the brake pedal angle voltage supply circuit.
