Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The ABS module monitors various inputs and compares the values to what should be expected. If the values received are out of range or not what should be expected, the ABS module sets a DTC. 

PPT AK ABS MODULE DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B10DF:46 Master Cylinder Isolation Valve: Calibration/Parameter Memory Failure Sets when the ABS module detects a calibration failure between the HCU and the ABS module or an internal fault exists within the ABS module.
P0942:46 Hydraulic Pressure Unit: Calibration/Parameter Memory Failure Sets when the identification data stored in the ABS module does not match the identification data from the HCU.
P0942:49 Hydraulic Pressure Unit: Internal Electronic Failure Sets when the identification data stored in the ABS module does not match the identification data from the HCU.

Possible Causes 

  1. AK1: CARRY OUT THE ABS MODULE/HCU CALIBRATION 
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Inlet Valve Calibration and then the Master Cylinder Isolation Calibration.
    • Clear the ABS DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Carry out the ABS self-test.
    • Is DTC B10DF:46 or U2007:xx still present? 
      Yes No
      Go to  AK2. The systems is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete calibration.
  2. AK2: CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Inlet Valve Calibration and then the Master Cylinder Isolation Calibration.
    • Carry out the ABS self-test.
    • Is DTC B10DF:46 or U2007:xx still present? 
      Yes No
      INSTALL a new ABS module.
      CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins TSBs.
      If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions.
      If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
      ORDER a replacement ABS module and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
      If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
      When complete, SELECT the "X" in the top right corner to CLOSE this procedure and RETURN to the PTS web site.
      The systems is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete calibration.
      If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
      When complete, SELECT the "X" in the top right corner to CLOSE this procedure and RETURN to the PTS web site.
