Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the transmission external control.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage, refer to the following chart:
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Damaged Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA)
    • Damaged Tow/Haul switch
    • Damaged Select Shift switch
    • Body Control Module (BCM) failed fuse(s):
      • 18 (10A)
      • 35 (5A)
    • PCM/Transmission Control Module (TCM)
    • Damaged wiring harness
    • Loose or damaged connections
    • Corroded or damaged terminals
  3. If the fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom. GO to SYMPTOM CHART - EXTERNAL CONTROLS  or GO to SYMPTOM CHART - NVH .
