Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.

    Does the ABS module pass the network test? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B : The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE ABS AND PCM SELF-TESTS
    1. Check for recorded DTCs  from the following modules.
      • ABS module
      • PCM

    Are any low or high voltage DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: For ABS module DTCs U3003:16 and U3003:17:

      REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : U3003:16,

      REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P : U3003:17.

      For PCM DTC P0562 and P0563:

      For P0563, Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B : System Voltage Low or Battery is Discharged.

      For P0563, Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : System Voltage High.

    2. No: GO to .
  4. CHECK FOR DTC U0129 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Wait 10 seconds.
    5. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Does the PCM set DTC U0129? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .
    2. No: INSTALL a new PCM..

      REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI or POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
