Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
Does the ABS module pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B : The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs
FROM THE ABS AND PCM SELF-TESTS
- Check for recorded DTCs
from the following modules.
- ABS module
- PCM
Are any low or high voltage DTCs recorded?
- Yes: For ABS module DTCs U3003:16 and U3003:17:
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : U3003:16,
REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P : U3003:17.
For PCM DTC P0562 and P0563:
For P0563, Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B : System Voltage Low or Battery is Discharged.
For P0563, Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : System Voltage High.
- No: GO to 4 .
- Check for recorded DTCs
from the following modules.
- CHECK FOR DTC U0129 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs .
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Does the PCM set DTC U0129?
- Yes: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .
- No: INSTALL a new PCM..
REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI or POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
