Pinpoint Test

CHECK THE DRIVER POWER SEAT OPERATION
1. Ignition ON.
2. Check the message center to verify the easy entry/easy exit feature is enabled.
  - The easy entry/easy exit feature can be enabled/disabled using a scan tool in module programming. Refer to the Owner's Literature or REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES for information on the message center.
3. Using the seat control switch, verify the driver power seat operates fully forward and rearward.
4. Place the memory seat and memory mirrors in central travel positions.
5. Using a scan tool, perform Driver Seat Module (DSM) self-test.
  - Are any Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?
  1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) .
  2. No: If disabled, ENABLE the easy entry/easy exit feature with the message center. REFER to the Owner's Literature or REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES . If OK, INSTRUCT the customer on correct system operation.
    If easy entry/easy exit is enabled and the seat does not move horizontally from the seat control switch, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I .
    
    Otherwise, GO to 2 on page 2.
CHECK THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Transmission Range (TR) Parameter Identification (PID) STATES
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
3. Operate the transmission gear selector in all positions while monitoring the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Parameter Identification (PID) TR states.
  - Do the Parameter Identification (PID) states agree with the selected positions?
  1. Yes: GO to 3 on page 2.
  2. No: To diagnose a transmission gear selector (PRNDL) status concern, REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 6F50 AND 6F55 .
CHECK THE Driver Seat Module (DSM) FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH POSITION (IGN_SW) STATES
1. Using a scan tool, view Driver Seat Module (DSM) Parameter Identification (PID): IGN_SW.
2. Operate the ignition while monitoring the IGN_SW Parameter Identification (PID) states.
3. For vehicles equipped with an ignition lock cylinder and key, insert and remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
4. For vehicles equipped with passive entry/passive start, push the ignition button on and off.
  - Do the Parameter Identification (PID) states agree?

  1. Yes: INSTALL a new Driver Seat Module (DSM). REFER to DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM) .
  2. No: For vehicles equipped with an ignition lock cylinder and key, REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES . For vehicles equipped with passive entry/passive start, REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .
