Overdrive Planetary Gears: Assembly

    NOTE: Thoroughly clean all parts and blow dry with moisture-free compressed air.
    NOTE: Use petroleum jelly to hold the No. 2 O/D  planetary thrust bearing in place.

  1. Install the No. 2 O/D  planetary thrust bearing.
  2. Install the O/D  planetary gear carrier into the center shaft and O/D  .

    3. NOTE: Make sure that the No. 12 bearing is in place in the O/D  planetary prior to installing the O/D  sun gear.

  3. Install the O/D  sun gear with the recessed gear teeth facing toward the adapter.
    4. NOTE: Adapter part number must not be visible after installation.
    NOTE: Inspect the sun gear for damaged or worn teeth.

  4. Install the coast clutch-to- O/D  carrier adapter.
