Removal and Installation

    NOTE: Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC METHODS -- GASOLINE MODELS  for correct Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) hook-up procedure. 
  1. If servicing the powertrain control module (PCM), connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle. Allow the diagnostic tool to identify the vehicle and obtain configuration data.
    • All programmable module information will automatically be retrieved by the WDS.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  4. Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the 2 retaining nuts and PCM.
    • To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
