Test Procedures

  1. KR1 DTC P0A14: CHECK THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AMC CIRCUIT AT THE SOLENOID
NOTE: If the active mount has been replaced with a non-active mount, the active mount solenoid vacuum port will be capped.
    • Key in OFF position.
    • AMC Actuator connector disconnected.
    • Connect a non-powered test lamp between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side (-) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side
      VPWR-Pin 1-(361e) AMC - Pin 2-(99)
    • Key in ON position.
    • Access the PCM and control the AMC PID.
    • Cycle the AMC solenoid on and off.

Does the test lamp illuminate on and off when the AMC output is commanded on and off?

    Yes No
GO to  KR2 GO to  KR3
  2. KR2 CHECK THE COMPONENT RESISTANCE
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Component Side (-) AMC Actuator Connector, Component Side
      VPWR-Pin 1-(361e) AMC - Pin 2-(99)

Is the resistance between 68 ohms - 78 ohms?

    Yes No
Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
    GO to  KR7
    INSTALL a new AMC actuator.
  3. KR3 CHECK THE VPWR VOLTAGE TO THE COMPONENT
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side (-) Vehicle Battery
      VPWR-Pin 1-(361e) Negative terminal

Is the voltage greater than 10.5 V?

    Yes No
    Key in OFF position.
    GO to  KR4
Key in OFF position. REPAIR the open circuit.
CHECK the condition of related fuses/fuse links. If damaged, CHECK the VPWR circuit for a short to ground.
  4. KR4 CHECK THE AMC CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS
    • PCM connector disconnected.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side (-) Vehicle Battery
AMC - Pin 2-(99) Negative terminal

Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes No
GO to  KR5 Key in OFF position. REPAIR the short circuit to PWR.
  5. KR5 CHECK THE AMC CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side (-) PCM Connector, Harness Side
      AMC - Pin 2-(99) AMC - Pin E2

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

    Yes No
GO to  KR6 REPAIR the open circuit.
  6. KR6 CHECK THE AMC CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS
    • Measure the resistance between:
( + ) AMC Actuator Connector, Harness Side (-) Vehicle Battery
AMC - Pin 2-(99) Negative terminal

Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms?

    Yes No
INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY (EEPROM) . REPAIR the short circuit to GND.
  7. KR7 CHECK THE AMC CIRCUIT FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONCERN
    • PCM connector connected.
    • AMC Actuator connector connected.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Access the PCM and control the AMC PID.
    • Command the AMC ON.
    • Access the PCM and monitor the AMC_FLT PID.
    • Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the circuit and look for a change in the PID state.

Is a fault indicated during the wiggle test?

    Yes No
    Key in OFF position.
    REPAIR as necessary.
    Key in OFF position.
GO to Pinpoint Test Z .
