Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1222, Anti-Lock Brake Sensor Mismatch

Test Step 

1. G1 CHECK THE VEHICLE COMPONENTS 
   • Check for correct wheel and tire size, front-to-rear and side-to-side.
   • Check for excessive bearing end play.
   • Check the wheel speed sensor indicator for a bent sensor ring or missing teeth.
   • Are the conditions OK? 

   Result / Action to Take 

   1. Yes:  GO to G2.
   2. No:  REPAIR as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
2. G2 TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE 
   • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: CLEAR the DTCs.
   • Key in OFF position.
   • Key in ON position.
   • Test drive the vehicle over 24 km/h (15 mph).
   • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve DTCs.
   • Is DTC C1222 retrieved? 
   1. Yes:  GO to G3
   2. No:  If another DTC is retrieved, GO to the ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX . If no DTCs are retrieved, system is OK.
3. G3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
   • Disconnect the ABS connector.
   • Check for:
     • corrosion
     • pushed-out pins
   • Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
   • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
   • Is the concern still present? 
   1. Yes:  INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
   2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
