Diagnostic Aids
Enter this test when directed by QUICK TEST. This test is only intended to diagnose:
- GLI Circuit
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
DTC P1244 indicates GLI circuit input is low and is less than calibrated amount of time. DTC P1245 indicates GLI circuit input is high and is more than calibrated amount of time. On Cougar, DTC P1246 indicates GLI circuit input is not within calibrated limit for a calibrated amount of time. On all others, DTC P1246 indicates GLI input was outside of frequency range. Frequency range is determined by temperature of voltage regulator where 97 percent represents full load, below 6 percent means no load. Possible causes are:
- GLI Circuit Open Or Short
- Faulty Voltage Regulator/Generator
- Faulty PCM
- Generator Circuit Shorted To GND Or PWR
- Generator Circuit Open
- Damaged Generator Drive Mechanism
