Test S: Power Sliding Door On/Off Switch Open Circuit

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Windstar and 1999 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ensure power sliding door is completely closed and latched. Press overhead console on/off switch to ON position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Left Power Siding Door Module (LPSDM) or Right Power Siding Door Module (RPSDM) self-tests. If DTC B2604 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2604 is not retrieved, conditions were not correct for self-test. Repair any remaining DTCs. See LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX  or RIGHT POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using NGS tester, perform RPSDM self-test. If DTC B2604 is not retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2604 is retrieved, go to step  4.
  3. Disconnect overhead console switch 8-pin harness connector C915 and LPSDM 12-pin harness connector C355. Measure resistance of Violet/White wire between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 6 and overhead console switch harness connector C915 terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, clear LPSDM DTCs and repeat LPSDM self-test. If DTC B2604 is retrieved, replace LPSDM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Violet/White wire.
  4. Open and close right power sliding door from overhead console open/close switch. If door does not operate correctly, go to next step. If door operates correctly, go to step  6.
  5. Disconnect overhead console switch 8-pin harness connector C915. Measure resistance between overhead console switch harness connector C915 terminal No. 6 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace overhead console switch assembly. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open to in Black wire.
  6. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between overhead console switch harness connector C915 terminal No. 4 (Violet/White wire) and ground. If reading is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If reading is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Violet/White wire.
  7. Disconnect overhead console switch 8-pin harness connector C915 and RPSDM 12-pin harness connector C352. Measure resistance of Violet/White wire between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 6 and overhead console switch harness connector C915 terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, clear RPSDM DTCs and repeat RPSDM self-test. If DTC B2604 is retrieved, replace RPSDM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Violet/White wire.
