Transmission Control Indicator Light

  1. Check Transmission Control Indicator Light (TCIL)

Turn ignition on. If TCIL is flashing, go to next step. If TCIL is not flashing, toggle TCIL on and off several times by pushing Transmission Control Switch (TCS). If TCIL does not go on and off with TCS operation, go to next step. If TCIL goes ON and OFF with TCS operation, TCIL is okay.
  2. Perform Quick Test

If Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is also on, perform MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT symptom check. If MIL is not on, perform QUICK TEST procedures in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - DIESEL article. If any DTCs are present, perform appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - DIESEL article. If no DTCs are present, no problem is indicated. Return to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  if a symptom still exists.
