Test O: Power Door Lock/Unlock Circuit Failure

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 16-pin Lighting Control Module (LCM) harness connector C2029. LCM is located behind left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and LCM harness connector C2029 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage exists, go to next step. If no voltage exists and DTC B1300 or B1310 exists, go to step  3 . If no voltage exists and DTC B1396 or B1397 exists, go to step  4 .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 18-pin Driver Door Module (DDM) harness connector C519. DDM is located in driver's door. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and LCM harness connector C2029 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Black wire). If no voltage exists, go to step  5 . If voltage exists, repair short to power on Pink/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 18-pin Driver Door Module (DDM) harness connector C519. DDM is located in driver's door. Measure resistance of Pink/Black wire between LCM harness connector C2029 terminal No. 3 and DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 8. See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and LCM harness connector C2029 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Black wire). See Figure . Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistance is as specified, system is okay at this time. Repeat self-test. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground on Pink/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Using scan tool, repeat LCM self-test. If DTC B1396 or B1397 exists, go to step  7 . If DTC B1396 or B1397 does not exist, system is operating properly. Continuous code could be set if door lock switch is depressed for more than 2 minutes. Ensure door lock switch operates smoothly without sticking.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove passenger door trim panel. Disconnect left front door lock actuator harness connector C502. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 5 (Red/Orange wire). See Figure . If no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to power on Red/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove right rear and left rear door trim panels. Disconnect right front, left rear and right rear door lock actuator harness connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and DDM harness connector C519 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Orange wire). See Figure . If no voltage exists, go to step  8 . If voltage exists, repair short to power on Pink/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Disconnect all LCM harness connectors. Check all harness connector and LCM harness connectors and terminals. Repair as necessary. Connect all harness connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace LCM. If problem does not exist, test is complete.
  8. Disconnect all DDM harness connectors. Check all harness connector and DDM harness connectors and terminals. Repair as necessary. Connect all harness connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace DDM. If problem does not exist, test is complete.
