Test G: Door Locks Are Inoperative Using Keypad

  1. If DTC B1526 does not exist, go to next step. If DTC B1526 exists, go to step  3 .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, monitor DDM PID KEY_PAD. Depress each keypad button. If PID values match keypad buttons, go to next step. If PID values do not match keypad buttons, go to step  7 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 12-pin Driver Door Module (DDM) harness connector C518 and 18-pin harness connector C519. DDM is located in driver's door. Measure resistance between ground and appropriate DDM harness connector terminal. See KEYPAD CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure and Fig 2 . If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If all resistances are more than 10 k/ohms, go to step  5 .
    KEYPAD CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION

Driver Door Module Harness Connector/Terminal Wire Color
    518/11 Light Blue/Yellow
    518/12 Light Green/Red
    519/9 Yellow/Black
  4. Disconnect 8-pin keyless entry keypad switch harness connector C505. Measure resistance between ground and appropriate DDM harness connector terminal. See KEYPAD CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure and Fig 2 . If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground on appropriate circuit. If all resistances are more than 10 k/ohms, replace keyless entry keypad switch.
  5. Disconnect 8-pin keyless entry keypad switch harness connector C505. Measure resistance between DDM harness connector terminals and keyless entry keypad switch harness connector terminals as specified. See KEYPAD CIRCUIT RESISTANCE TEST  table. See Figure , Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms in all circuits, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more in any circuit, repair open on appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    KEYPAD CIRCUIT RESISTANCE TEST

Keypad Harness Connector Terminal No. Driver Door Module Harness Connector/Terminal No. Wire Color
    1 C518/11 Light Blue/Yellow
    3 C518/12 Light Green/Red
    7 C519/9 Yellow/Black
  6. Measure resistance between ground and keyless entry keypad switch harness connector terminal No. 6 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Black wire between keyless entry keypad switch and ground point. Ground point is located on right kick panel. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace keypad.
  7. Disconnect all DDM harness connectors. Check all harness connector and DDM harness connectors and terminals. Repair as necessary. Connect all harness connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace DDM. If problem does not exist, test is complete.
