Test M: Traction Control Switch Indicator Inoperative - TAURUS Only
- Check Traction Control Switch Circuit
Turn ignition off. Disconnect 30-pin ABS control module connector. Measure resistance between control module connector terminal No. 17 (Gray wire), harness side and ground while depressing and releasing traction control switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with traction control switch pressed and greater than 10 k/ohms with traction control switch released, go to step 4
. If resistance is not correct, go to next step.
- Check For Open Or Short To Ground In Circuit No. 959 (Gray Wire)
Measure resistance between of Gray wire ABS control module connector terminal No. 17, and traction control switch connector terminal No. 1. Measure resistance of Gray wire between ABS control module connector terminal No. 17 and ground. Figure
and Figure
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, between ABS connector and traction control switch, and greater than 10 k/ohms between ABS control module and ground, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair Gray wire. Clear codes and repeat self-test.
- Check For Open In Circuit No. 57 (Black Wire)
Measure resistance between traction control switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) harness side and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace traction control switch. Clear codes and repeat self-test. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Black wire. Clear codes and recheck system.
- Check Traction Control Switch Warning Light Circuit
Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire fused with a 10-amp in line fuse, momentarily jumper ABS control module connector terminal No. 18 (Black/Light Blue wire) to ground, while checking traction control switch warning light. If warning light illuminates, replace ECU. Clear codes and repeat self-test. If warning light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Check For Open Circuit No. 960 (Black/Light Blue Wire)
Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ABS control module connector terminal No. 18 (Black/Light Blue wire) and traction control switch terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace traction control switch, clear codes and repeat self-test. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Black/Light Blue wire. Clear codes and repeat self-test.
