Idle Validation Switch (IVS)

PCM uses IVS signal to verify when accelerator pedal and shaft is in the idle position. Any detected malfunction of IVS will illuminate MIL and engine will operate at low idle only. IVS protects against in-range failure of the Accelerator Position (AP) sensor. IVS is not serviced separately. IVS is part of accelerator pedal assembly. If IVS is defective, replace accelerator pedal assembly.
