Test F: Illuminated Entry Inoperative From Remote Transmitter
- If you were referred here from another test procedure, go to step 3). If you were not referred here from another test, go to next step.
- Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. Within 20 seconds and press LOCK button. Interior lights should come on when UNLOCK button is pressed then turn off when LOCK button is pressed. If interior lights operate as described, system is operating properly. If interior lights do not operate as described, go to next step. If either front door does not lock or unlock when remote transmitter is used, perform TEST D: LOCKS INOPERATIVE FROM REMOTE TRANSMITTER .
- Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 8 (Brown/Light Green wire) at Generic Electronic Module (GEM) harness connector C248. See Figure . Continue measuring voltage and press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. If voltage is less than 1.3 volts as UNLOCK button is pressed, go to next step. If voltage is 1.3 volts or greater as UNLOCK button is pressed, repeat this step. If voltage is still 1.3 volts or greater, replace Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. If no voltage exists, go to step 5).
- Keep same setup as in step 2). Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Select DIGITAL MEASUREMENT, PULSE WIDTH METER and choose LEVEL setting LOW. Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. If pulse width was 190-210 mS, replace GEM. If pulse width was not 190-210 mS, replace RAP module.
- Disconnect RAP module harness connector C254 and GEM harness connector C248. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance in Brown/Light Green wire between terminal No. 10 at RAP module harness connector C254 and terminal No. 8 at GEM harness connector C248. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RAP module.
