Pinpoint Test A - Windshield Washer Inoperative

  1. Check washer operation. If washer does not squirts fluid, check reservoir fluid level. Fill reservoir if necessary and recheck operation. If system is still inoperative, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Operate washer switch. If washer pump is inoperative, go to step 5). If washer pump operates, go to next step.
  3. Inspect nozzles and hoses for blockage. Repair or replace as necessary. If hoses and nozzles are okay, go to next step.
  4. Inspect for blockage at reservoir outlet or blockage in outlet hose at washer pump. Repair or replace as necessary. If no problem found, replace washer pump and retest system.
  5. Turn ignition on. Check Purple/White wire for battery voltage at washer pump harness connector while operating washer switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 7).
  6. Check Black/White wire for continuity between washer pump harness connector and ground. If continuity exists, replace washer pump and retest system. If continuity does not exist, go to step 9).
  7. Check for power at wiper switch by operating wiper. If wiper operates properly, go to next step. If wiper does not operate, see PINPOINT TEST B - WIPERS INOPERATIVE .
  8. Remove steering column covers to access wiper switch. Disconnect wiper switch harness connector. Measure resistance of Purple/White wire between wiper switch harness connector and washer pump harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, see PINPOINT TEST B - WIPERS INOPERATIVE . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Purple/White wire and retest system.
  9. Disconnect wiper switch harness connector. Operate washer switch. Measure resistance between Black wire terminal of wiper switch and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire and retest system.
  10. Disconnect fuse junction panel connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Black wire between fuse junction panel connector and wiper switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair Yellow/Black wire as necessary and retest system.
  11. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) from fuse junction panel. Measure resistance of Yellow/Black wire between wiper switch connector and CTM connector terminal No. 3 in fuse junction panel. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CTM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace fuse junction panel. Retest system after repair.
