Preliminary Procedure

  1. Verify customer's complaint by operating PATS. Ensure electronically coded ignition key is being used. Check for damaged wiring or connectors at Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) module. The SCIL module is located behind passenger's side of instrument panel, to the right of glove box. SCIL module contains one 16-pin connector, one 16-pin connector and two 26-pin connectors.
  2. Check for damaged wiring or connectors at passive anti-theft receiver antenna located at ignition lock cylinder. See Figure . Repair components if damaged. If all components are okay, proce ed to retrieving diagnostic trouble codes.
