Test C - Alarm System Does Not Arm Properly

  1. Turn ignition off. Press driver's side door lock switch to LOCK and then to UNLOCK position. Using key, lock and unlock door. If door lock operates properly, go to next step. If door lock does not operate properly, repair/replace door lock mechanism as necessary.
  2. Press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote transmitter. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate properly, go to KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - REMOTE article.
  3. Open driver's door window. Using remote transmitter, arm system. Wait 30 seconds after all doors are closed and locked. Reach through window and open door using front inside handle. If system armed and triggered, go to next step. If system did not arm and trigger, go to step 5).
  4. Monitor instrument cluster THEFT indicator operation. THEFT indicator should illuminate for 30 seconds during system pre-arm and then flash when armed and triggered during previous step. If THEFT indicator operated as described, system arming sequence is okay. Re-evaluate concern. If THEFT indicator did not operate as described, go to TEST E - THEFT INDICATOR DOES NOT INDICATE ARMING  .
  5. Turn ignition off. Install New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) following manufacturer's instructions. From RAP PID list, select DOORRAP PID. Close all doors and liftgate (wagon). DOORRAP PID should read CLOSED. Open any door or liftgate (wagon). DOORRAP PID should read AJAR. If both PID states appeared, go to step 7). If both PIP states did not appear, go to next step.
  6. Observe interior lights. Open and close all doors and liftgate (wagon). If interior lights operate properly, replace RAP module. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If interior lights did not operate properly, diagnose interior light system. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  7. Using NGS tester, select IGN RAP PID from RAP PID list. Turn ignition off. IGN RAP PID should read OFF. Turn ignition on. IGN RAP PID should read RUN. If both PID states appeared, go to step 6) and verify interior light operation. If only IGN RAP PID state OFF appeared, go to step 9). If only IGN RAP PID state RUN appeared, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module connector C1. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module connector C1, terminal No. 25 (Blue/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair Blue/Black wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, replace RAP module. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  9. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module connector C1. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and RAP module connector C1, terminal No. 25 (Blue/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace RAP module. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, repair Blue/Black wire between RAP module connector and fuse panel. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
