ISSUE

The proper key cutter and blanks must be used when making a replacement key(s) on some vehicles. This is due to a revision to the lock design.

ACTION

The 1996 model year Escort/Tracer was revised mid-December, 1995. If Key Blank (Rotunda 011-R0208) does not slide into the lock, use Key Code Cutter Kit (Rotunda 011-R0214) and Key Blank (Rotunda 011-R0211). To make replacement keys for the 1997 model year Escort/Tracer, use Key Code Cutter Kit (Rotunda 011-R0214) and Key Blank (Rotunda 011-0230).
