Test C: Generic Electronic Module (Gem) Does Not Respond To NGS

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 26-pin GEM connector C239 (below driver's side of instrument panel, to left of steering column). Inspect 26-pin GEM connector C239 and DLC for damage. If 26-pin GEM connector C239 and DLC are okay, go to next step. If 26-pin GEM connector C239 or DLC is damaged, repair as necessary. Retest system for normal operation.
  2. Using DVOM, check resistance of Light Blue/White wire between 26-pin GEM connector C239 pin No. 25 and DLC pin No. 7. See Figure and Fig 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace GEM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Light Blue/White wire between 26-pin GEM connector C239 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
