Diagnostic Aids
Perform this test when instructed during QUICK TEST or other test step. This test is only intended to diagnose the following:
- Cooling Fan (FAN) control relay.
- Condenser Fan (CFAN) control relay.
- Low Condenser Fan (LCFAN) control relay.
- High Condenser Fan (HCFAN) control relay.
- Harness circuits (HFAN/HCFAN, LCFAN and LFAN).
- PCM.
CIRCUIT TEST KF PIN IDENTIFICATION

- 1) Check Power To Relay Turn ignition off. Disconnect harness connector of relay in question. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and PWR circuit at relay connector in question. If voltage is greater than 10.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair PWR circuit and repeat QUICK TEST .
- 2) Check Signal Circuit For Open Turn ignition off. Disconnect fan relay in question. Install breakout box (leave PCM disconnected). Measure resistance between breakout box test pin of relay in question and signal circuit at harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair circuit in question and repeat QUICK TEST .
- 3) Check Signal Circuit For Short Disconnect fan relay in question. Measure resistance between breakout box test pin of relay in question and ground. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, reconnect relay and go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair circuit in question and repeat QUICK TEST .
- 4) Check Fan Operation Turn ignition off. Install breakout box (leave PCM disconnected). Turn ignition on. Ground breakout box test pin for relay in question. Relay should click and fan should operate when grounded. If relay does not click, replace relay and repeat QUICK TEST . If relay clicks and fan operates, replace PCM and repeat QUICK TEST.
