Pinpoint Test N -ICM PWR Test
- Check ICM Ground Turn ignition off. Using Rotunda Distributor System Tester (007-00075), measure resistance between negative battery terminal and IGN GND jack. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step 4).
- Check ICM PWR Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between negative battery terminal and ICM PWR jack. If voltage is more than 6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 6 volts or less, repair ICM PWR circuit in wiring harness and retest.
- Wiggle Test Connect a jumper wire between negative battery terminal and IGN GND jack at tester. Wiggle and bend small section of wiring harness starting at ICM and work toward PCM. If tester resets, repair intermittent in ICM PWR circuit and retest. If tester does not reset, repair intermittent in IGN GND circuit and retest.
- Check Wiring Harness Disconnect distributor connector. Measure resistance between IGN GND jack at tester and IGN GND circuit terminal (Orange/Red wire) at distributor wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, locate and repair open circuit in Orange/Red wire and retest.
- Check Distributor Ground Measure resistance between negative battery terminal and distributor housing. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace PIP sensor or sensor wiring harness and retest. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair distributor ground circuit. Ensure distributor is mounted securely to engine block.
