Test P (System Does Not Control Temperature)

- Enter self-diagnostics, record any codes and/or temperatures (if displayed), then exit self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST . If Code 030, 031, 032, or 033 is set, go to next step. If none of these codes is set, go to step 3).NOTE: If warm air is discharged at 65°F (18°C) setting, the sensor circuit is open. If cool air is discharged at 85°F (29°C) setting, the sensor circuit is shorted.
- Unplug in-car temperature sensor connector. Measure resistance between sensor terminals. See IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
Temp. °F (°C) Ohms 50-68 (10-20) 37,000-58,000 68-86 (20-30) 24,000-37,000 86-104 (30-40) 16,000-24,000 - Inspect aspirator hose for improper installation (this hose draws air across in-car temperature sensor). If hose is installed correctly, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at terminal No. 17 (White/Orange wire) of EATC module White connector. If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, replace EATC module.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect for open White/Orange wire between EATC module and sensor. If wire is okay, go to next step. If wire is open, repair it.
- Inspect for open Pink/Black wire between sensor and EATC module. If wire is open, repair it. If wire is okay, replace sensor.
