Cold Engine Lock-Out Switch Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Sable, 1994 Lincoln Continental, and 1994 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure coolant temperature is less than 120°F (49°C), system is in AUTOMATIC mode and temperature is set to 90°F. If blower motor comes on, check coolant temperature and retest.
  2. If blower motor comes on with engine cold, replace cold engine lock-out (engine coolant temperature) switch. If blower motor is off, cold engine lock-out switch is okay.
