ON Circuit

  1. Perform tests at amplifier 6-pin connector. Turn ignition on and connect voltmeter between ground and either circuit No. 296 (White/Purple wire) on 1991 Taurus SHO, or circuit No. 296 (Pink/Orange wire) on 1992 Taurus SHO.
  2. On all models, battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown fuse. Connect voltmeter between circuit No. 151 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. When cruise control ON button is pressed, battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, perform CIRCUIT TEST A.
  3. Release ON button. Voltmeter should read 7.8 volts, indicating ON circuit is engaged. Voltage should remain at 7.8 volts until another cruise control circuit is activated. If voltage is not as specified, check system ground, wiring, fuse and circuit breaker. Install a known good amplifier and recheck, if necessary.
