Circuit Test B - System Operation Intermittent
- Verify condition. Determine whether intermittent condition occurs while cruising, operating cruise control switches or turning steering wheel. If condition occurs while cruising, go to next step. If condition occurs while operating control switches or turning steering wheel, go to step 4).
- With engine running, check vacuum at servo. Normal servo operation requires a minimum of 2.5 in. Hg vacuum. If vacuum reading is correct, go to next step. If vacuum reading is not correct, repair malfunction in vacuum supply.
- Perform appropriate SERVO ASSEMBLY test under COMPONENT TESTS. Lightly tap servo body while performing test. If servo fails test, replace it. If servo tests okay, substitute a known good amplifier. If cruise control system operates properly, replace amplifier. If servo does not test okay, replace servo.
- Perform CONTROL SWITCHES test under COMPONENT TESTS. If control switches test okay, substitute a known good amplifier. If cruise control system operates okay, replace amplifier. If control switches fail test, replace horn pad. Clean or replace 3 copper brushes and steering wheel ring.
