Rotor Testing

  1. Connect one ohmmeter test lead to rotor shaft and the other test lead to each of the 2 slip rings. If a zero reading is observed, rotor assembly is grounded and must be replaced.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter across the 2 slip rings. Resistance should be 2.6-2.9 ohms. If reading is not 2.6-2.9 ohms, connect ohmmeter test leads to rotor coil-to-slip ring soldered connections. If readings are now 2.6-2.9 ohms, solder connections must be properly resoldered. If readings are not 2.6-2.9 ohms, rotor assembly must be replaced.
