Failure Mode Effects Management (FMEM), Code 98

The FMEM mode is a minor ECA backup strategy used when one or more sensors fail or send out-of-normal-range values.

The ECA will substitute a fixed mid-range value for the defective sensor and continue to monitor the sensor. If the faulty sensor signals return to within the normal operating range, the ECA will use those signals and return to normal operation.

Engine Running (KOER) code 98 is displayed when the FMEM mode is in effect. The "CHECK ENGINE" or "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" Light (MIL)/Message will also remain on until FMEM mode is exited.
