Circuit Test B10 - Neutral Gear Switch & Clutch Engage Switch
NOTE:
Enter this test only when directed here from SWITCH MONITOR TEST procedure. To prevent replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-EEC items may be at fault: clutch switch adjustment, clutch pedal operation, transaxle operation and neutral switch installation. This test is intended to diagnose only the following: clutch or neutral switch, and wiring harness.
- Checking System Integrity - Visually check all wiring, harnesses, connectors and components for evidence of damage, overheating, shorting or looseness. If a fault is found, repair as necessary. If no faults are found, go to next step.
- Checking For Open Circuits
- Install breakout box and leave ECA disconnected. Set VOM on 200-ohm scale. Using CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
table, measure and record resistance between test pins No. 2 and 20 (ground). If all resistances are to specifications, go to step 5). If not, go to next step.CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
Test Procedure Ohms Clutch released and in gear Less than 5 Clutch depressed and in gear Greater than 10k Clutch released and in Neutral Greater than 10k Clutch depressed and in Neutral Greater than 10k - Checking CES Operation - Disconnect 2-pin CES connector. Set VOM on 200-ohm scale. Measure resistance between terminals on clutch engage switch with pedal depressed and released. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms with pedal depressed and less than 5 ohms with pedal released, go to next step. If switch does not meet specifications, adjust or replace as necessary.
