SERVICE INFORMATION
WARNING:
Poor cold start, engine surge/hesitation, or backfire on tip-in during the initial 2 to 3 minutes of engine operation after an overnight soak in ambients over 55°F, may be caused by an excessively lean fuel/air ratio. This concern can be serviced by installing a 1984 processor. Since a 1984 processor wiring connector is different than the 1983 connector, a revised wiring harness (12A581) adaptor is required in addition to other associated EEC system components.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. See Fig 1 . Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
