Purge Port Vacuum Supply

  1. Disconnect purge control vacuum hose from purge port on throttle body. See Fig 1 .
  2. Connect vacuum pump or vacuum gauge on purge control vacuum hose fitting on throttle body. Start engine and increase engine speed while noting vacuum reading. Vacuum should remain constant regardless of engine speed.
  3. If vacuum is obtained and remains constant regardless of engine speed, vacuum supply is okay. Go to next step. If vacuum is not obtained or does not remain constant regardless of engine speed, check for restricted vacuum port on throttle body.
  4. Shut engine off. Remove test equipment. Reinstall purge control vacuum hose on throttle body.
