Test SC-8A - Checking Speed Control On/Off Switch
NOTE:
Perform TEST SC-7A before proceeding.
- If speed control engage light illuminates, go to next step. If speed control engage light does not illuminate, go to step 5).
- Using scan tool, actuate speed control solenoids. If speed control solenoids are clicking, go to next step. If speed control solenoids are not clicking, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage of speed control sense circuit at PCM connector terminal No. 12 (Red/Black wire). If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 9 volts or less, repair open speed control sense circuit to speed control switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on speed control light driver circuit at PCM connector terminal No. 22 (Light Green wire). If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER . If voltage is 9 volts or less, repair open speed control light driver circuit. Before searching for an open circuit, ensure speed control engage light bulb is okay. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Turn ignition off. Access and disconnect 8-pin speed control ON/OFF switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition switch output circuit Black/White wire at speed control ON/OFF switch connector. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 9 volts or less, repair open fused ignition switch output circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Turn ignition off. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of ground circuit between speed control ON/OFF switch connector Black wire and ground. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace speed control ON/OFF switch. Perform TEST SC-VER . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open ground circuit Black wire. Perform TEST SC-VER .
