Test SC-4A - Cruise Control Brake Switch

Perform TEST SC-1A
before proceeding with this test. After each repair, perform TEST VER-4A
.
- Disconnect and inspect brakelight switch 6-pin connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on brakelight switch connector terminal No. 6 (White/Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 3).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, connect a jumper wire between brakelight switch connector terminals No. 6 (White/Pink wire) and No. 5 (Black/Light Green wire). Using scan tool, read brake switch input status. If scan tool displays BRAKE SW RELEASED, replace brakelight switch. If scan tool does not display BRAKE SW RELEASED, repair open Black/Light Green wire.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts in step 1), turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 60-pin connector. PCM is located under air cleaner. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary.
- If connector is okay, using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 29 (White/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Pink wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Pink wire between PCM 60-pin connector terminal No. 29 and brakelight 6-pin connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Pink wire between PCM and brakelight switch.
