Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

  1. Engine coolant temperature sensor is located in coolant housing on passenger's side front of engine, just below coolant filler cap. Engine coolant temperature sensor has a Black wire and a Black/White wire in the connector.
  2. Drain cooling system. Remove engine coolant temperature sensor. Place sensing end of engine coolant temperature sensor in water.
  3. Connect ohmmeter between electrical terminals on engine coolant temperature sensor. Heat water to specified temperature and ensure resistance is within specification. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
  4. Replace engine coolant temperature sensor if resistance is not within specification. Apply thread sealant to threads on engine coolant temperature sensor. Install and tighten engine coolant temperature sensor to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Reinstall connector.
