SDU Connector Lock System

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Check for discharged battery. If battery is okay, turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Shield cable end. Wait at least 60 seconds before servicing. Remove floor console assembly.
  2. SDUs use two distinct types of connector locks. See Figure and Figure .
  3. Reconnect negative battery cable. Recheck for Code 34. If Code 34 has reset, SDU connector locking mechanism is faulty; replace SDU. If Code 34 has not reset, system is okay (SDU connectors were not properly engaged and reconnecting them fixed the problem).
