Ignition Coil Resistance Test
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 1994 Plymouth Sundance, 1994 Plymouth Acclaim, 1994 Eagle Vision, 1994 Dodge Spirit, and 1994 Dodge Shadow. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove ignition cables, and measure their resistance (3000-12,000 ohms per foot). Replace cable(s) if necessary. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector. Measure primary coil resistance between B+ (battery) terminal and pin corresponding to cylinder(s) in question. See Figure .
- Measure secondary coil resistance between coil towers of grouped cylinders. See CYLINDER GROUP IDENTIFICATION table. Replace ignition coil if primary/secondary coil resistance is not as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE table under IGNITION COIL.
CYLINDER GROUP IDENTIFICATION
