Test SP-17B Code 34, Cruise Control Vacuum Solenoid Control Circuit

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If connector condition is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Place cruise control ON/OFF switch in ON position. Place DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 33 (Tan/Red wire) at SBEC connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, perform TEST SP-17C  . If voltage is less than 10 volts, disconnect cruise control servo connector.
  3. Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If connector condition is okay, Place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe Tan/Red wire at cruise control servo connector.
  4. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is more than 10 ohms, using an external ohmmeter, check resistance at Tan/Red wire between terminal No. 33 at SBEC connector and terminal No. 4 at cruise control servo connector.
  5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace cruise control servo. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open in Tan/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
