Checking Brakelight Switch Circuits For Shorts

  1. Disconnect and inspect brakelight switch connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If connector condition is okay, using DRB-II, read inputs monitor. If DRB-II display shows PR, go to step 3). If DRB-II display does not show PR, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 29 (White/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace SBEC. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
  3. If DRB-II display shows PR in step 1), check brakelight switch adjustment. If brakelight switch is not adjusted correctly, adjust brakelight switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If brakelight switch is adjusted correctly, replace brakelight switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
