Preliminary Diagnostic Checks

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 RAM ProMaster EV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check for any Service Bulletins, Star On-line Cases or ECU flash updates that apply for the DTC or symptom.
  2. Check for any 12-volt battery voltage DTCs in the ECU. Low battery voltage can cause other system DTCs.
  3. Check for High Voltage related communication DTCs and repair before continuing.
  4. Circuit faults should typically be diagnosed before rationality/performance faults.
  5. Check the High Voltage Battery low voltage harness connector(s) for proper connection at the High Voltage Battery. Verify that the connector is completely plugged in and properly locked prior to disconnecting for testing. Disconnect the High Voltage Battery harness connector and check for water intrusion and any pushed out, damaged, corroded, burnt, or spread terminals.
  6. Check the overall High Voltage System for DTCs, proper connection and operations of external HV components that could be contributors to Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) DTCs and repair as required before BPCM failures are addressed.
  1. If any problems were found, repair according to Service Information. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
