Theory Of Operation - Lost Communication With Trailer Backup Assist Control Module: Notes

The Trailer Reverse Steering Knob Module (TRSKM) reports to the Trailer Reverse Steering Control Module (TRSCM) over a private CAN. The TRSCM (Module) is responsible for reporting faults over the CAN network that the TRSKM (Control Knob) may have set.

This DTC sets when the Control Knob cannot communicate with the Module. Since the Module is responsible for reporting faults, this DTC may only appear as STORED as the module may have been offline when the Control Knob set this fault against the Module. When the Module comes back online, the conditions that set the DTC may no longer be present.

Diagnose any other Voltage or CAN related DTCs prior to this DTC.
