Diagnostic Test
- CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT NOTE:
Before erasing any DTCs, record all information pertaining to the DTC.
- CHECK FOR TCM DTCS
- Using the scan tool, check for any TCM stored or pending DTCs.
Were there any stored or pending TCM Transmission Range Sensor DTC(s)?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 3
- Using the scan tool, check for any TCM stored or pending DTCs.
- CHECK THE ESM WITH THE SCAN TOOL
- With the scan tool, under ESM, check the Shift Lever Indication.
Does the Shift Lever Indication reading indicate SNA?
Yes
- Check the TCM harness connectors at the TCM.NOTE:
Poor or improper connection at the TCM can cause this DTC to set.
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power, ground and CAN Bus circuits.
- Clear DTC(s) and verify proper operation.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST or 6F24 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST . .
No
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Gear Shift/Electronic Shifter Control Module terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the Shift Lever Assembly.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST or 6F24 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST . .
- Check the TCM harness connectors at the TCM.
- With the scan tool, under ESM, check the Shift Lever Indication.
- INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
Where any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to C635 DDCT TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST or 6F24 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST . .
No
- Test Complete.
